Well Hello!… It’s been a few weeks since I’ve written a post… But, I must admit, I’ve been enjoying just BEing. lol… We’ve made the big move to Miami, and I can’t tell you how happy I am here!… It’s like a slice of heaven… My own little piece of serenity… To wake up every morning and stare out into the vast blue turquoise sea… It truly is pure bliss! Which is probably why I haven’t been blogging! LOL Living in beach mode can be quite dangerous.😝 It can also make you a little bit lazy, if I’m being honest, but I’m not complaining! 😉

Beach living has definitely changed my normal dress code that’s for sure! Usually a lover of black everything, lately it’s just been light colored swim-wear and beachy wraps for me. I’m loving it! It’s also been keeping me on top of my Pilates game as well because hey, if I’m going to be prancing around in bikinis all the time, I want to feel confident wearing them! I’ve even recently begun teacher training at a Pilates studio near my home, and I taught a couple of my own classes alongside my teacher! Needless to say I am a happy girl and I’ve been living in beach bliss! But, now it’s time to sit down and get back to the blog.

For the first two weeks living here in Miami, I have to be honest, I literally did nothing but put this entire home together. All by myself! I’ve been saying for a while now that I want to get into interior decorating and put more of that here on the blog. I seriously love it so much. I was in such nesting mode that I barely ate! All I wanted to do was get this entire house together, and the majority of it I honestly had done in just three days. My husband called me a tornado lol. My close friends know that I am extremely OCD and have to have my home perfect before I can feel comfortable in it. I mean, if you’re going to have any kind of a disorder, I’ll take the one that keeps my home looking photo shoot ready at all times!

Before even moving in, when the place was completely empty, I knew exactly where all of my furniture would go. I literally had dreams of where each piece would go! That’s my OCD, working even when I’m asleep lol. Being that I’m right off of the ocean I wanted a light and airy feeling… I had the hotel Delano in mind as my inspiration. I painted the walls a dove gray to complement all of my shades of gray and cream and sherbet furniture, it turned out perfect! The energy in here just flows… You just feel good when you’re in here, and that’s exactly what I was going for! I’m not really into the extremely modern decor that is normally affiliated with Miami. I just don’t like harsh white everything. It makes me feel like I’m in an institution. I like a little bit of softness… So that’s why I chose the shades of gray, cream and linen. It gives you a modern feel but also a comfortable cozy feeling too.

All of the furniture in our home was purchased at one of my favorite furniture boutiques, Arhaus, (aside from these two chairs that were purchased at an antique consignment store called Renaissance in New Orleans.) Arhaus is my absolute favorite one stop shop for my home. The “Fiona” vintage chenille tufted sofa with its feminine curves, The rustic “Club” leather ottoman, The charcoal linen tufted “Greyson” chairs .. It’s the perfect balance of masculine and feminine. The “Asolo”dining room table is a black distressed large round table that gives a “lived in feel” surrounded by the wethered “Adele” dining room chairs in “velvet steel” upholstery. It truly is one of my best decorating jobs I’ve ever done. 👌🏻 If you happen to order from Arhaus, ask for Phil Mann, tell him I sent you. He’ll hook you up. 😉

After having all of the furniture in place, (things definitely moved around a bit before finding their place), I had these beautiful picture frames but nothing to go in them. I decided to hang them in their place anyway and I figured that I eventually would find something to go in them… Well, after having them hung and walking by them every day, I started to get an idea of what I wanted… And that’s how the idea of the “Marilyn Suite” came to be. I have this old vintage book of Marilyn Monroe with all these classic photos, so I decided to slice them out and put them in the frames! It turned out amazing!

When you enter the foyer heading to the guest room there are two photos of Marilyn Monroe frolicking on the beach drinking wine…How perfect for our beach home?! I love the idea of this home being “The Marilyn Suite”, Its just works. In every room there are photos of her that reflect the room!

In the dining room above the buffet there are three iconic photos of Marilyn, (again on the beach because hey it’s a beach house) One famous shot in color the middle and then the two black and whites on each side. When entering the foyer into the bedroom, I have the classic nude studio photo shoot of Marilyn with the sheer striped scarf covering her bare breasts…

I love the idea of this home being “The Marilyn Suite”, Its just works. In every room there are photos of her that reflect the room!
I’m still admittedly in nesting mode. I have two more rooms to go. The guestroom and my dressing room still need my attention, But I’m going to take my time on those two. I’m exhausted from doing the rest of the home, But I’m loving every minute of it! I’ll keep you updated on what I do with those two rooms, in the meantime, I hope you enjoyed this mini little tour of my new Miami home and I hope to see you here next week! (If I can get my butt off the beach and back to blogging regularly!) 😝

Perhaps in the next coming weeks I’ll get into some Miami fashions, but tomorrow I have to hop on a flight back to New York because next week is my birthday and i’m stopping in my favorite city for a few days before heading to Turks and Caicos for my birthday!! So maybe one more New York winter fashion post before I start up with the Miami fashions? Or Perhaps you’d like a mini tour of our New York City pad as well? Let me know, I love your feedback! Enjoy your week my loves!!
